Jacek C Szepietowski, MD, PhD, FRCP is a full professor and Chair of the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology at Wroclaw Medical University, Wroclaw, Poland. In the years 2011-2020, he served as a Vice-Rector (Vice-President) for University Development of Medical University in Wroclaw, Poland; in the years 2007-2011, he was the Director of the Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He is a Past President of the European Society for Dermatology and Psychiatry, Past president of the International Forum for the Study of Itch and a current President of the Polish Dermatological Society. Dr El Sayed graduated MD from the University of Paul Sabatier in Toulouse France in 1990, followed by a residency in dermatology until 1994. His first academic position in Toulouse was as Assistant Professor (chef de clinique) from 1994 to 1996. Then Associate Professor in 1996/1997 and from 2004 till 2009. In 2000, he was appointed Head of the Division of Dermatology at the Lebanese University where he initiated the residency program in 2001 and he founded the Division of Dermatology at Baabda Public University Hospital. In 2012, Dr El Sayed was appointed Professor of Dermatology at the Faculty of Medicine, Lebanese University. From November 2018 until February 2022, Dr El Sayed was elected for the second time President of the Lebanese Dermatology Society. Besides the annual congresses of the LDS, he organized in Lebanon the first Atopic Dermatitis Day, Psoriasis Day and Vitiligo Day in Lebanon with public awareness and scientific updates on these diseases. He has a special interest in inflammatory skin diseases, contact dermatitis and laser/phototherapy and has more than 200 oral and written publications in peer-reviewed medical journals.
